Powergen Challenge Cup - Third
Round Draw

The 14 amateur clubs that emerged from last weekend?s Powergen Challenge Cup second round as winners go into tonight?s third-round draw.

The draw, which will be hosted at BBC Radio Leeds? studios and broadcast at around 7.15pm, will see those second-round winners join the 20 clubs from the LHF Healthplan National League, four French clubs and two Russian clubs.

The amateur clubs are guaranteed a money-spinning tie against professional sides because the draw is structured so that the National League clubs will face either amateur or international opposition.

All eyes will be upon East Hull and Sharlston Rovers (Wakefield) who were giant killers last year. The East Yorkshire club travelled to beat Swinton Lions while Sharlston overcame Dewsbury Rams.

The four French and two Russian clubs will have to come to this country for their third round matches but, should any of the French clubs survive, they have the chance of ties against Engage Super League clubs from the fourth round onwards.

Entering the Powergen Challenge Cup on behalf of the French Federation are Union Treiziste Catalan, St Gaudens, Toulouse and Pia while the Russian challenge comes from Locomotive Moscow and Strela Kazan.

Besides being able to catch the draw on BBC Radio?s Yorkshire regional sports programme, other BBC local radio stations are being offered the opportunity to listen in on the action at the same time.
