Featherstone Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of 25 year old centre Richard Newlove from Wakefield Trinity. Coach Gary H Price was clearly elated when he broke the news, "I believe the capture of such a talented player is an extremely exciting event for the club", he said. "Richard was well liked when he was at the club previously and I think the supporters will see a new improved version this time around. I saw Wakefield play a lot last season and to me he was one of the better players in their ranks. I was extremely suprised that he wasn't retained, their loss is very much our gain. He is a player that can create situations on the field and will give us many more options, in both defence and attack. I believe the commitment that Richard has shown by returning to his roots at Featherstone is indicative that the direction this club is taking is the right one, both on and off the field." Richard made his professional debut with the Featherstone club in 1995 scoring a try against Salford. His final season with Rovers was his finest when in 2002 he scored twenty five tries from 31 appearances. This attracted the attentions of Super League neighbours Wakefield who signed him for a season. Featherstone are delighted that a Rover has returned!
