The Redcliffe Dolphins must beat Souths Logan this Sunday to keep in touch with the top 5 in the Queensland Cup. After 5 losses in 6 weeks the Dolphins have gone from competition leaders to crash to 7th place.
Although Redcliffe have lost four on the trot there appears no need to panic. The performances against Burleigh and Wynnum were encouraging and with a bit of luck could have been narrow ins instead of narrow losses.
Redcliffe are not in the midst of an injury crisis and their form is improving again. But a loss to lowly Souths Logan would shatter the positives keeping their season alive.
The run home is no picnic: Souths Logan (H) North Qld (A) Brothers-Valleys (H) Tweed (A) Toowoomba (H) Ipswich (A) Central Comets (A) Easts (A) Burleigh (H) Norths (H)
A minimum of 28 points will be the cut-off to make the finals this year which equates to at least 7 wins from the remaining 10 games.
Wins against the lesser sides of Souths, Brothers-Valleys, Tweed, and Ipswich alone will not get them into the semis. The away game to North Qld is crucial as is the trip to Rocky to play Central. If they can manage wins against these six sides there will be less pressure to beat Norths, Easts, Burleigh and Toowoomba.
However if they are to challenge for the goal of triple premierships they must look to do just that.
In A Grade & Colts Redcliffe are currently holding onto 4th place. Souths Logan can leapfrog the Dolphins into the top 4 should they win this weekend. The Magpies should not be underestimated and have been playing good football in 2004.
