The Brisbane Broncos have defeated South Sydney 8-4 at Suncorp Stadium this evening.
In a tightly contest match, there was no scoring in the first half but both sides had their chances, failing to capitalize when the opportunities arose and for Souths, their last play options were simply disgraceful.
Darren Lockyer opened the scoring with a penalty goal in the 46th minute and that slight edge gave the Broncos the life they needed with the Broncos finishing far stronger than Souths.
Darius Boyd scored the only Broncos try and Darren Lockyer converted the try from the sideline and the result looked in the bag. Souths came back and scored in the 79th minute through Shannon Hegarty and Souths then had the opportunity to win the game with John Sutton knocking on over the line and giving Brisbane their first win at Suncorp Stadium this year.
Brisbane still have plenty of work to do as do Souths, especially their last tackle options, many of which were appalling.
