Sharks five-eighth Greg Bird is facing a lengthy suspension after being ordered to go straight to the National Rugby League judiciary following a serious incident that saw him sent from the field during Saturday nights match with South Sydney.
Bird has been charged with striking but hasnt been given the option to plead guilty or not guilty, with his case handed straight to the judiciary panel.
Bird was sent off by referee Tony Archer after he raised his knee to the head of Rabbitohs winger Shane Marteene in the 66th minute of the game.
Meanwhile, theres been three charges coming out of Friday nights grand final replay, won by Penrith over the Sydney Roosters at Telstra Stadium.
Penriths Luke Lewis will escape suspension with an early guilty plea but will be outed for one game if he unsuccessfully fights a grade one dangerous throw charge.
Roosters pair Adrian Morley and Stuart Webb are both facing time on the sideline for high tackle charges, with Webb facing a minimum of three weeks out of the game. Morley will be outed for one match if he submits an early guilty plea.
Sharks forward Jason Stevens has been cited for tripping and will miss between one and two matches.
