The second round of the Premier League competition in NSW has some interesting match ups. After some decisive scoring in the opening round, some teams may find Round 2 just a little more difficult.
Friday night at Aussie Stadium sees the Roosters side take on the Balmain Tiger, in the curtain raiser before the Roosters/ Broncos clash in the NRL competition. In the first round of the Premier League the Tigers had a comfortable win over Norths, but the Roosters side remained scoreless in their game against St Mary's-Penrith Cougars, so will be hoping to finally put some points on the board for the competition.
This week the Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs side take on the Dragons on Saturday 19th April, 2003. Kick-off is at 12.30pm with the match being played at Belmore Sports Ground. All Doggies fans should get along to Belmore to support the boys before heading off to Telstra Stadium for the big double header in the NRL competition. Last week the Bulldogs had a comfortable win over the Knights, and the Dragons had an equally easy win over the Manly side, so Saturday's game should be a beauty.
Wests Magpies will be looking for some good form on their home ground at Campbelltown where they play hosts to the Eels side who looked strong in their first match up against the Canberra Raiders.
Aussie Stadium on Saturday evening has Souths coming up against a strong St Marys-Penrith side who managed to keep the Roosters scoreless in the first round. Souths also looked impressive in their first game demolishing the Magpies, so once again this will be a good match up.
Manly will be hosting the visiting Newtown side on Sunday at Brookvale Oval. Newtown, after having their first round game ending in a draw with Cronulla, will be wanting to secure a win against the Manly side who suffered quite a major defeat to the Dragons in Round 1.
The curtain raiser between the Sharks and the Newcastle NRL game will be the Premier league sides for both clubs at Toyota Park. Both teams will be trying hard to secure their first win of the competition, Cronulla coming close last week with a draw.
The final match of Round 2 has North Sydney at home to the Canberra Raiders. The Bears showed some good form in the first round and will be looking to capatilise on that against a Canberra side looking to get some points from a win.
