Hot Eagles smash ordinary Roosters

In a much hyped game today the Sydney Roosters have been well and truly hammered 42-0 by the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval today.

Back home in front of good crowd that braved the heavy rain in the second half to register another win at "fortress" Brookvale Oval Manly ran riot over a depleted Roosters pack missing, Myles, Mason and Fitzgibbon to Origin duties.

Deputising for Brett Stewart Michael Robertson had a great game showing he will be a real player of the future for Manly. Other strong performers for the Sea Eagles were Matt Ofrord, Steve Menzies and Anthony Watmough.

It all went wrong for The Chooks in the 6th minute when Steve Bell got the ball to run right through the "guts" of some soft Roosters defence to score. From then on it was a real battle from the Roosters who seemed to be always having to ruck the ball out of their own 20-metre zone for the most of the game.

Tries to David Williams in the 33rd minute, Orford in the 46th minute and Jamie Lyon's intercept in the 51st minute killed off any chance The Roosters had of competing in the game.

From then on it was a procession with the Sea Eagles eventually running in eight tries to nil.

The Roosters really missed the defence of Craig Fitzgibbon around the ruck today with Manly's outside backs gaining yards seemingly at will.

Things might only get worse for the Roosters though as Micky Pea will having some explaining to do after he was put on report for a high shot on Josh Perry in the 58th minute.

There are concerns for Sea Eagles backrower Glen Stewart after coming from the field after getting his leg caught up awkwardly in one of those tackles that makes viewers squirm.

For the Roosters it's back to the drawing board as their halves pairing of Mitchell Pearce and Braith Anasta saved their worst performance of the year for today in a clueless display, seemingly coming up with nothing in attack but long clearing kicks, which ultimately made life so much easier for the victorious Sea Eagles.
