Costly Call: Experience of an NRL match official

We have a culture problem in Rugby League, it's not exclusive to the code, but certainly one that needs to change. Junior match officials are subject to both verbal and physical abuse because NRL fans hold the belief it's okay to abuse match officials. The abuse is so bad that many junior officials walk away from the profession as it's not worth cost of being assaulted.

Costly Call explores the career of recently retired NRL Touch Judge, Daniel Eastwood, as he shares 15 years worth of experience as a match official. He believes many fans don't understand just how tough it is to officiate a Rugby League match. Furthermore, he talks about how a player is forgiven for a mistake, whereas a match official is expected to be perfect.
