Anthony Seibold's weekly Super League blog No. 4

Entry number 4 - w/e 31st January 2009

As we are only nine days away from our first ever Super League game another hurdle was placed in our way this week with the cancellation of our away friendly with the Quins in London due to the state of the pitch. It is disappointing that we will not have the opportunity to play before the season proper but we have had some other challenges in our past three years and like them we cannot afford to dwell, rather take the positives and move on. We understand the implications of having two teams from the different codes play out of the one ground for twelve months of the year as we have the Bridgend Ravens share the Brewery Field with us here in Bridgend. The playing fields do take a battering at this time of year due to the weather and it is something that needs constant monitoring in order to maintain its upkeep. We also understand that from a performance perspective going to Headingley without a warm up match makes our challenge even greater. Our preparation now takes the feel of pre-season again for one further week as we look to maintain our training programme. We will again have a modified and simulated game this Thursday evening at the Brewery Field with our reserves as opponents once again. This is as close to a 'real' game as possible and we need to make sure the intensity is high this week.
