Tigers find their roar to send Galloway and Richards out winners

Wests Tigers have moved off the bottom of the ladder following a comprehensive 50-16 demolition over the New Zealand Warriors in front of a small, but vocal crowd at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

After a tumultuous week concerning his playing future, Robbie Farah played a major role in the nine-try victory, scoring one and setting up three more to give departing veterans Keith Galloway and Pat Richards a memorable home send-off.

The Warriors started strongly with prop Albert Vete barging over in the ninth minute to give the visitors another confident start, but it proved to be temporary as the New Zealanders faded away for the second consecutive week.

After James Tedesco was denied a try for an obstruction, captain Farah took it upon himself to give the home side a healthy lead; scoring in the 21st minute and setting up Luke Brooks (31st minute) and Dene Halatau (36th minute), the Tigers took an 18-6 advantage into the break.

Four tries in the opening 20 minutes of the second half to Tim Simona (46th minute), Kevin Naiqama (53rd minute), David Nofoaluma (58th minute) and Pat Richards (61st minute) saw the home side blow the score of to 40-6.

A brace of tries to winger Matthew Allwood (65th & 72nd minutes) helped the Warriors save face, but it proved nothing more than consolation as the home side ended the rout with tries to Martin Taupau (76th minute) and David Nofoaluma (79th minute) to give the 6,711 supporters a reason to celebrate in an otherwise disappointing season.

In their final home appearance for the Wests Tigers, Pat Richards and Keith Galloway produced sensational efforts; Richards managing an 18-point personal haul, while Galloway was afforded the final conversion of the afternoon.

For the second straight week, the Warriors started the match with plenty of enthusiasm, but a lack of experience ultimately proved costly. Slumping to their seventh straight loss, coach Andrew McFadden will likely be without interchange prop Charlie Gubb, who was placed on-report twice for shoulder charges.

Adding to the Warriors woes was a reoccurrence of a knee injury to Sam Tomkins, having signed a deal to return to Wigan next season Tomkins appears to have played his last game in the NRL.

Next week the Tigers finish their 2015 campaign against St. George Illawarra at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night, while the Warriors will be hoping to finish on a positive note against the Bulldogs at the same venue the following night, in the final regular season fixture.

Welcome to League Unlimited's coverage of Round 25 Sunday Afternoon Football between Wests Tigers and New Zealand Warriors at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

A big day for Wests Tigers with Pat Richards and Keith Galloway to play their final home game before departing for the English Super League.

Both players have given tremendous service to the club, with Richards famously scoring in the 2005 Grand Final, while Galloway stands as the fifth most-capped player with 171 appearances since joining from Cronulla in 2006.
