Tigers v Warriors preview

Wests Tigers v New Zealand Warriors
Campbelltown Stadium - Sunday 2:00pm

Expect plenty of points in this bottom-of-the-table tussle.

Having threatened to pull off a victory last week against Cronulla, the Tigers will be out to finish the year with a win at home against the free-falling Warriors. Retaining the same side that went down last week, coach Jason Taylor will be looking to give club stalwarts Keith Galloway and Pat Richards the send-offs they deserve in their final matches at Campbelltown Stadium. Having lost their past three matches against the Warriors, coach Jason Taylor will be hoping his side produces a similar performance from when the two sides last met at the venue, with the Tigers running out 50-6 winners.

Sitting in fourth place after Round 18, it is almost unfathomable to comprehend the Warriors slide down the ladder. Having lost their past six matches in a row, the New Zealand club will be hoping to finish the season on a positive note heading into next season. Responding to last week's 50-16 drubbing, coach Andrew McFadden has responded by promoting Matthew Allwood for only his second game of the year, while Sebastine Ikahihifo replaces Jacob Lillyman in the front row. With close to half their side featuring in less than 20 first grade matches, the Warriors face a challenging prospect but will be aided by the experience of forwards Simon Mannering, Ryan Hoffman and Nathan Friend.

Last meeting: Round 6 2015 - New Zealand Warriors 32 Wests Tigers 22

Who to watch: While once again injury has interrupted his season, Curtis Sironen showed last week the skills which saw him debut in first grade as a 20-year old five-eighth. Producing a classy kick-ahead to score against the Sharks last week, the son of former Balmain legend Paul Sironon will be hoping to finish 2015 on a high note. On contract for the next two seasons, Sironen will be out to prove he is a future forward leader of the club by getting on top of the Warriors seasoned back-rowers.

One of the few positive signs the Warriors can take out of 2015 is the experience provided for a number of their younger players. With four players on display who featured in last season's Under 20's Grand Final victory, the enthusiasm of players such as Solomone Kata, Tuimoala Lolohea and Sam Lisione will serve the New Zealand club well heading into the coming seasons.

The favourite: At home for the last time this season, the Tigers are expected to finish the year on a high.

My tip: The Tigers are the best bet of the weekend; if they play to their potential they have the ability score over 50 points. Tigers by 30.
