Injury Hit Panthers Power Home

Inspired by fullback Matt Moylan, the Panthers scored 14 unanswered points in the second half to secure two crucial points in front of nearly 13,000 spectators at Pepper Stadium.

Cronulla lead 18-12 at the break but failed to match the Panthers in the second half which would have been very disappointing for coach Stuart Flanagan.

Making matters worse for the Sharks, Chris Heighington looks like spending some time on the sideline after a horrible spear tackle on Panthers prop Jeremy Latimore.

Michael Ennis was at his scheming best before halftime milking a penalty on Regan Campbell-Gillard's foot that Benny Elias would have been proud of right in front of the posts for Cronulla to take a six point lead into the break.

After the break Lewis Brown put Kiwi hopeful Watene-Zelezniak away down the sideline who threw a beautiful pass to find David Simmons who found Matt Moylan for the Panthers to hit the lead.

Moylan then kicked a penalty for the home side, before Tyrone Peachey pounced on a kick to seal the win for Penrith.

Young guns Matt Moylan and Dallian Watene-Zelezniak put their hands up for representative honours next weekend having a hand in three of the four Panthers tries.

Penrith started well when Watene-Zelezniak put tryscoring machine David Simmons over with his first touch of the season in the 6th minute.

Cronulla replied immediately when Sharks centre Ricky Leutele put Sosaia Feki away in the North-Western corner.

The Sharks again went to that side when Ricky Leutele scored a try for himself in the 15th minute.

A beautiful ball from Moylan saw Watane-Zelezniak crash over for his 4th try of the season in a see sawing battle.

An embarrassing error from George Jennings, thanks to a wayward Waqa Blake offload, saw electric Sharks fullback Valentine Holmes scoop up the ball and spectacularly get the ball down mid air for the try of the match.

Penrith fully deserved their win and were lead by dynamic fullback Matt Moylan who looked dangerous everytime he touched the ball.

Luke Lewis looked to have injured his knee near the halftime break but returned in the second half and was strong in a losing side.
