Roosters v Raiders preview

Sydney Roosters v Canberra Raiders
Allianz Stadium - Sunday 2:00pm

The Canberra Raiders will be desperate to snap a two game losing streak when they travel to Sydney to take on the high flying Sydney Roosters on Sunday afternoon.

The Raiders, who succumbed 22-20 last Saturday Night against St George Illawarra, have slipped to a 1-2 record after three rounds. They will be relieved to have the return of gun fullback Jack Wighton who has only missed the one week with his facial fracture. Wighton's dynamic returns for the green machine could be very handy. This means Jordan Rapana moves to the wing.

In other changes Josh Papalii moves from the back row to the front row, both Shaun Fensom and Dane Tilse are both promoted from the bench to the starting side. Utility hooker Glenn Butriss replaces Josh McCrone on the bench.

The Raiders will need to improve their line speed and knock out the missed tackles of which the Raiders made 37 against the Dragons if they want to compete with this great Roosters outfit.

The Sydney Roosters have kept the same side as last week and why wouldn't they? The Roosters looked in good touch against Penrith with new recruit Blake Ferguson playing out of his skin in arguably his best performance of 2015. Their defence shut out Penrith on most occasions in their 80 minute battle. Mitchell Pearce continued to lead his troops around the park with great poise and this Roosters side looks on track for yet another Finals push in 2015.

Last meeting: Round 12 2014 - Sydney Roosters 26 Canberra Raiders 12
Canberra haven't won at Allianz Stadium since Round 17, 2011 and have only won 23 out of 55 games at the ground dating back to the ground's inception in 1988.

Who to watch: The Roosters will be looking for Roger Tuivasa-Schek to give them so attacking impetus from the back. After gaining 227m on the ground last week against Penrith it appears RTS is starting to feel more comfortable week by week in his role as fullback. It is never an easy task taking over from one of the greatest fullback's in Roosters history in Anthony Minichello but so far RTS is doing a good job for the tri colours.

His ability to bust the line and his stepping ability could cause havoc for the Canberra side if they don't sort out their defensive frailties. Also keep an eye out for his left hand combination with boom centre Blake Ferguson.

For the Canberra side they will be looking for back rower Sia Soliola to keep his quality form going. Not only is he developing into one of the best fantasy players in 2015, he has also proved his worth for the Raiders with some barnstorming performances.

In his three performances since returning from the English Super League, Soliola has run for 403 Metres at an average of 134 Metres a game, 108 tackles at an average of 36 a game and has also 8 tackle busts. He has certainly been Canberra's most dynamic forward, even more effective than Josh Papalii.

Look for his damaging runs out wide on the left side with Mitch Cornish providing him with some short balls and aiming him at some of the Roosters smaller defenders (Look out James Maloney!)

The favourite: With 2 wins from 3 and at home you can't bet against the Tri Colours in this game.

My tip: Roosters to win this one easily. Canberra's defence isn't strong enough to deny all the attacking weapons that the Roosters have at their disposal. Roosters to win by 14+
