Cherry-Evans heads to the Gold Coast

GOLD COAST TITANS STATEMENT:

Manly's international halfback Daly Cherry Evans has agreed to four-year deal to become a Gold Coast Titan from 2016.

The 26-year-old Mackay junior, who played junior representative football with fellow Mackay product, Titans utility back Josh Hoffman (who is a year older), has played 11 Tests for Australia and five times for Queensland and was the 2014 Dally M halfback of the year.

He made his decision public after informing his teammates after the Sea Eagles' loss to Parramatta tonight. The Titans can confirm he has agreed to a deal for two years with an option for a further two years.

CEO Graham Annesley said he was excited to confirm such a major announcement for the club of a player of Cherry Evans' standing in the game and strong profile.

"I think this signing sends a positive sign to the rugby league world that this club does have a future and it can attract quality players and it can turn itself around," he said. "This is a major step in that.

"Daly's calibre as a player is obvious but he has also shown to us to be a quality person as well a good family man and very respectful and he will be an enormous asset for the Titans as we build for the future.

"We are honoured that he chose the Titans as his club after he completes his commitments with Manly this season where I am sure he will give his all."

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles half, Daly Cherry-Evans ended speculation on Friday Night announcing he has signed a three year deal with the Gold Coast Titans. 

Cherry-Evans informed his team mates at the conclusion of his side's  42-12 thumping at the hands of the Parramatta Eels.

He will take up the role on the Gold Coast for season 2016.
