THE Manly Sea Eagles have trounced the Parramatta Eels 40-6 in front of 11,232 fans at Parramatta Stadium.
No team was able to grab the upper hand early in the match, while the Eels dominated possession and were at the right end of a lop sided penalty count, they failed to capitalise on their opportunities.
Back to back penalties placed the Eels right on the attack in the 20th minute, however, Ben Roberts decision to put up a cross-field bomb on only the third tackle was going to prove to be costly. Steve Matai plucked the kick out of the the air and raced 30 metres before passing to Jorge Taufua who raced 70 metres to score. Jamie Lyon added the extras.
Parramatta almost hitback with a try 10 minutes later on the back of some quality running, a premature whistle blow cost the homeside and on the back of a penalty the Sea Eagles were over again, this time through David Williams. Lyon missed the conversion from the touchline.
The Sea Eagles were over again minutes before half time with Jorge Taufua scoring in the corner. Lyon added the extras to give the Sea Eagles a 16-point-lead going into the break.
After the break the Sea Eagles took off where they left, scoring tries in the 49th, 56th, 60th and 64th minutes before the Eels finally got on the scoreboard in the 69th minute through Semi Radradra who did it all himself.
Both sides were given several quality attacking opportunities in the final ten minutes, but neither team managed to trouble the scoreboard attendant.
The Sea Eagles will host the New Zealand Warriors next weekend, while the Parramatta Eels take on the West Tigers.
