Huddersfield Giants have announced their pre-season fixtures, including Eorl Crabtree’s testimonial match against near neighbours Halifax on Sunday 10th January. Nathan Brown’s side begin the lead up to engage Super League XV with a trip to Mount Pleasant to face Batley on January 3rd. Eorl Crabtree’s testimonial fixture marking his ten years service to the club is sure to be a highlight of the pre-season campaign, with both the Giants and Co-Operative Championship runners up Halifax pledging to field strong sides for the annual Infirmary Cup clash. Trips to Cumbria in successive weeks to face Whitehaven and Barrow await for the claret and gold before a clash with Super League rivals Castleford Tigers draws the pre-season to a close on Tuesday 26th January. Huddersfield Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown admitted the pre-season schedule will allow the chance for players to stake their claims to face Bradford Bulls in the engage Super League XV home opener at the Galpharm Stadium on Friday 5th February (8pm). “It’s a busy pre-season, there’s no doubt about that. It is a great chance for some of our younger players, in particular, to show us what they can do. By having this amount of games, more of the players get the chance to have a run out and for us to take a close look at them in action.” Huddersfield Giants pre-season schedule: Batley v Huddersfield Giants – Mount Pleasant, Sunday January 3rd 2pm Eorl Crabtree Testimonial fixture: Huddersfield Giants v Halifax – Galpharm Stadium, Sunday January 10th 3pm Whitehaven v Huddersfield Giants – The Recreation Ground, Sunday January 17th 2pm Barrow Raiders v Huddersfield Giants – Craven Park, Sunday January 24th 2pm Castleford Tigers v Huddersfield Giants – The Jungle, Tuesday January 26th 7.30pm
