Written by: Matt StarkeyMay 15, 2007 10:56am
The New South Wales selectors have named their finest 17 for 2007’s first State of Origin match, to be held at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on 23rd May. Jarryd Hayne, Brett White, Jarrod Mullen, Kurt Gidley and Anthony Tupou will make their debut for the Blues. The Team is: Anthony Minichiello, Matt King, Jamie Lyon, Matt Cooper, Jarryd Hayne, Braith Anasta, Jarrod Mullen, Brent Kite, Danny Buderus (c), Brett White, Nathan Hindmarsh, Willie Mason, Andrew Ryan Interchange: Luke Bailey, Steve Simpson, Anthony Tupou, Kurt Gidley.

- May 15th, 2007 5:18pmI haven\'t seen Mullen do to much, its a load of crap. If they wanted to pick a bolter they would have been better to go for Carney. Gee blokes like Matthew Head, Joe Williams and Brett Firman who came out with big wraps on them but not lived up to them over the last 3 years have missed a big opportunity this year. Pains me to say it but I would have picked Kimmorly. I bet they end up dropping Mullen in the second game and either Orford, Gower or Kimmorly get the job. I have to admit Gidley has been better this year then he used to be but you watch him choke. Robbie Farah would be 10 times better. I don\'t like Hayne either. Abdul is right Hazem should have been picked. He still might after Lyon gets suspended. Tupou has done absolutely nothing except impress Ricky Stuart at training for the Roosters, so he gets to leap frog Ryan Hoffman to the Australian side and now into the Origin side. Hoffman has been a big part of his team being on top of the ladder for 2 years, Tupou\'s has been at the bottom. What a joke. And Anasta, has there ever been anyone luckier when it comes to Rep footy (maybe Karlmichael Hunt, I would have Slater or Bowen anyday). QLD will match them in the forwards and absolutely flog them in the backs. I won\'t be surprised if they put 50 on them.

- May 15th, 2007 12:46pmI was gutted being a QLD supporter and seeing no slater or bowen, but im elated at seeing this NSW team...Anasta??? I mean...cmon!!! WTF?? and Mullen will be a great player for NSW soon enough, but not yet, Kimmorley was robbed...3-0 whitewash for QLD, even without Bowen et al

- May 15th, 2007 11:46amlmao nsw are going to get their asses kicked based on a halves pairing of anasta and mullen!! ffs, todd carney is a better halfback than mullen!! mullen is a 5/8 and should be there over anasta..anasta is a nuffy!! if nsw love him so much stick him at lock or out of the team..ffs, what a **** team!

- May 15th, 2007 11:45amWhos selecting this team, Mal Meninga, disgraceful, how Greg Bird or Ryan Hoffman didn\'t get a run i do not know, and Todd Carney is 50 times better than Mullen!!!

- May 15th, 2007 11:44amNo they\'re not. Not a bad side at all. I like it.

- May 15th, 2007 11:41amErgh, rubbish. I don\'t care what the papers say, Mullen is not experienced enough for Origin. And no Paul Gallen or Hazem El Masri? If Mullen was picked on form then the selectors should have done Gallen justice and chosen him as well. Poor play.
